FastFermenter thermowell not sealing: What to do?

In putting together my new FastFermenter, when it came to screwing in the thermowell, the threads wouldn't mesh. I gave it an hour or so, in good light, and as a trained jet engine mech, my mechanical skills are not negligible. I thought I had the right angle, but apparently cross-threaded it. Note that in their video, while they have you pre-fit all the other threaded parts, they don't ask for that one. I think I know why.

So it's got a half mile of teflon tape on it and it won't seal. Should I use silicone? How safe is silicone as a seal for wort? Is there anything else I should try?

Hi WillieDorr. I would not use silicone. I would re-tap the hole and use Teflon. Then be carful not to over tighten
