File this under dumb questions.

I've only ever brewed an extract kit once when I first started brewing and quickly moved into BIAB and then All Grain since I own a house and have the space to do so.

Yesterday I decided to buy an extract kit for the sake of trying it again and when I looked at the instructions, I got a little confused. The kit calls for you to boil 3 gallons and then add in the extra 2 to the fermenter post-boil. I did this on my first extract batch but given that I can now do full boils, I just wanted to confirm: Is it ok for me to just boil the full 6 - 6.5 gallons of water with the extracts?
