I found this recipe on the forum.... Im thinking about buying bulk Dark LME 33# for this recipe and making about 5 batches worth.

Does this look like a decent recipe. Should I go ahead and order ?

Ive been ordering from www.leisure-time.com

Am wondering a few things here.

Dark brown, roasty, malty smooth, with a distinctive chocolaty finish
6 lbs. dark malt extract----- Got it

1 lb. domestic special pale malt ----- Does this mean grain?
1 lb. medium crystal malt Does this mean grain?
1/2 lb. roast unmalted barley----------- Got it
1/4 lb. chocolate malt--------------- Got it
1/2 lb. oatmeal Cant find
1/2 - 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa (add to end of boil) Cant find
1 oz. Northern Brewer (bittering)-------- got it
1/2 oz. U.K. Fuggles (flavoring)--------- got it

No finishing hops (add cocoa instead)
1 pkg. Windsor Ale Yeast (or White Labs English Ale or Wyeast #1968)
1 pkg. Bru-Vigor (yeast food)
3/4 cup corn sugar (priming)
O.G. - 1.049
F.G. - 1.012:confused:

1 lb. domestic special pale malt ----- Does this mean grain? Yes AKA 2-row
1 lb. medium crystal malt Does this mean grain? Yes, AKA caramel try 80-90L
1/2 lb. oatmeal Cant find - AKA Flaked oats or quick oats
1/2 - 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa (add to end of boil) Cant find - AKA cocoa powder

The website im ordering from has "CARAMEL PILS CARA 20" would this be OK?

This was the closest one I could match it too.

Also I found PALE MALT 10 LB so I hope that is two row....... :drunk:

For the first, try the Crystal 60L on this page http://www.leisure-time.com/muntgrn.htm

Pale malt is 2-row, yes. You know you have to mash that, right? You can't just steep it.

How could one go about converting this to a extract brew?:drunk:

Ahhh, but it is an extract brew. This recipe is having you steep grain with the 6lb of extract.
