Hello -
I have a couple ESP8266..... a D1 Mini and a NodeMCU that each have a bad 3.3v regulator on them. Don't ask.
If I power them with 3v3 using the pins, they work OK. They currently have Fermentrack firmware on them.

I'd like to change the firmware, but am not sure if/how this can be done since I can't use a USB cable to power/upload the firmware because of the +5v USB power..

I thought there was a way to use another D1 Mini and its rx/tx pins to use it (or was it an arduino?) to send the firmware through it - over to the devices with the bad regulator. I don't have a USB/Serial converter. I'm 80% sure it can be done with another ESP or maybe an Arduino. But don't remember how.

Any ideas? And yes, I'm cheap. Would like to salvage these 8266s if I can, even though new ones are under $5 each.
