I've got basic equipment for kegging (kegs, regulator, tank, lines, picnic tap) but I'm looking at doing a small keezer.

I'll need something to clean the lines; I've been looking online and there are two ways these cleaning systems are sold: one is with a female screw-on connector, and one is with a male ball-lock connector that can be attached to the "out" connector from the beer line.

It seems to me that I would probably rather use the ball-lock connector, pull off the ball lock connector from the keg and attach that to it, run the solution through the lines (coming out at the tap), and there I'd be.

Here's what I'm talking about:

The other connection looks like this:

Both have a pressurized bottle to hold cleaning solution, but the second option looks like you remove the faucet and screw it onto the shank.

What do you all use to clean beer lines? How often? It seems like the first option, with the ball-lock connector, makes more sense, but it's quite possible I'm missing something here.

TIA!

I got a keg washer and made an adapter so I can pump into a keg and out the tower of my kegerator. The keg washing alone was worth the money and it washes my fermenter and cleans lines too. One of my best purchases.

Over the weekend I visited the local homebrew store in Madison (http://wineandhop.com/), they didn't have the correct corny keg post that would fit, but the employee there removed one from a used keg and sold me that instead (that is what I call service).

The brass nipple and sprayer were both available from Home Depot, so I have all the parts. Total of less than $20. Nice!

Wine and Hop is fantastic, love their new shop as well!
I have a similar rig to the brulosophy link, and generally clean in between kegs...sometimes will go every other keg if they have been moving quickly.
