Thanks for the info. Think I'll just keep it in the primary. I followed the directions on the Nottingham yeast packet, which had me hydrate the yeast. That could have possibly been the cause of the delayed vigorous fermentation? Will this affect the outcome?
 
No. It will be fine. When I use dry yeast it almost always takes 12-24 hrs to take off.

I made Edworts Haus Ale a couple of times and both times I had to use a blow off tube. It's only a about a 1.050 beer, but it seems to ferment pretty violently.
