always liked earthy stouts like St. Ambroise Stout, Sierra Nevada Stout, or Dark Star Stout... can anybody tell me what makes them like that, and does anybody have a recipe for such a stout?
thanks for the responses... I don't have noble hops right now... will use in the future though... anybody know if either kent goldings or cascades would be a better choice for this result... i know maybe neither... but any opinion might sway me... I have plenty of roasted barley...flaked barley.. breiss choco malt etc..... I think those hops are the only two non-super-duper-citrusy hops that I have in my supply rt now...
im clueless but of the yeast I have in stock I think the safale-s-04 might be better than the fruity other options... I always use dry yeast for ease of use for the beginner that I am..
primary:earthy stout
conditioning: german spalt and hallertau hellas lager
polishing up: American ale
I'm freakin hooked... this homebrewing thang is freakin awesome... amazing how a novice can produce stuff so much better than what I can buy at the grocer... can't wait to see where I am in a year or two
