Just used my blichmann conical last night for the first time. I tried to strain hops and break as best as I could but near the end there was alot that made it in to conical.
So my question is how long should I wait to dump it out the bottom?
Is sooner better as in 24 hours after?
How does everyone else do theirs?

Thanks
Chris

Whenever it's done fermenting, if not a few weeks (or even months, really) longer.

I usually let it settle for a couple hours then dump from the bottom right before I pitch my yeast. I've had great luck pulling very clean yeast after ferments with this method. I never wash.

I brewed sunday. After I cooled the wort, I transfered to the conical. Waited about 2 hours, dumped a bunch of the hops and break. Then pitched the yeast.

Thanks guys. Next brew ill use your recommendations.
Ill wait an hour or so, dump and then pitch yeast.

Thanks again!!

Don't forget to remove the airlock before you dump. I always seem to forget and end up pulling a little starsan through.
