Hi, I was brewing a single hop IPA with Citra hops. I made a mistake and I added 8 oz of Citra pellets to the secondary for dry hopping instead of 3oz in a 5 gal batch.

Has anyone added that quantity (1.6 oz/gal) of hops for dry hopping.

What would be the problem besides a huge citrical kick in the nose?

Thanks
Rodrigo

Sure...all the time.

I am planning a double dry hop of my IIPA with Citra with almost that exact ratio.

Its borderline over-the-top and I'm sure there are diminishing returns past the 1 oz per gallon ratio, but you end up with a hop bomb.

OK thanks for the reply. I was thinking that I've committed a terrible mistake. I'll post the results

I thought that too. I'll dryhop for 3-4 days and then let it rest for a couple of days and the cold crash for bottling.

If it's too much aroma (for some), just wait and it will fade with time.

Also, if you have enough hardware, you could blend it with your next batch.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried it yet?
I bet it's rugged. I am drinking one now with 2oz Citra dry hopped, and it's good and strong.
