I have recently started fermenting a wheat beer which had gone through the initial few days of fermentation and the krausen had settled etc. I then added some dried orange peel and czech saaz hops straight in to the fermenter (directions from the guy at the brew shop). After about 2 hours I now have a green sludge on the top (smelling and looking particularly hoppy). I was not expecting this, is this normal? I thought about adding the hops and orange to the fermenter in cheese cloth but thought screw it and just chucked it in. Any comments appreciated.

Its fine don't worry. It will settle to the bottom and your beer will be great! Don't fear the "green sludge"
