So on Thursday I brewed a 10g batch of Pale Ale. Nothing special SG of 1.050 and I used a WL Nottingham 039 I had washed and was reusing. I let it warm up as I brewed, poured the liquid off the top and dumped it into a well oxygenated Wert.
So 24hrs in and nothing! I took the top off and saw a FEW bubbles so I wasn't real worried.
At 48hrs we were starting to hum right along with activity in the airlock. I thought about adding a blow off but just decided just to put a towel around it in case it foamed over (lazy).
So this morning I came in and nothing! It turns out it had blew ALL
the water out of the airlock!
I normally use a blow off tube and haven't ever had this happen before.
I know each batch ferments differently but I am thinking it is the batch size.
So my question in how big of a batch are airlocks designed for? What do you use on a 100+ gallon batch?
