I have a Midwest Cherry Wheat kit on order.

I am thinking of adding some dried cherries to the boil, just to see if I can get a little extra cherry kick.

Good idea, bad idea?

Are they sour cherries? I don't see sweet regular cherries working well in a beer.

They are sugared, which is why I am thinking on adding them to the boil.

Still kicking this around, the kit comes with cherry extract.

I guess I could add the dried cherries to the boil, sour cherries (fresh) to the secondary, and add the extract at kegging.

Whoa. That will be CHERRY wheat!

I would not boil them...You'll boil off a ton of flavor.

I'd add them to the primary as if it were a wine or mead. You will end up with a lot of extra sugar, but it'll be good....you may have to re-pitch if it ends up too darn sweet.
