Double batch... Double yeast?

Check out mrmalty.com for help with yeast starters (for liquid yeast) or # packets of dry yeast (to rehydrate). In an effort to make a bigger yeast starter from the same amount of liquid yeast, you might be tempted to make a higher gravity starter - don't do that it'll stress the yeast (the starter gravity should be 1.040 or so). You want good healthy yeast, not stressed out ones.
 
If you want to use liquid yeast but don't want to buy two vials/smack packs, you could buy one vial/smack pack, make a starter at 1.040, let the yeast replicate and settle down for a couple of days, make up another starter at 1.040 & pitch them into that & let em go at it for a couple more days.
