I'm intrigued by the Rye recipes I'm seeing, but I want to work on my conditioning and clarifying skills. So I'm leaning away from wheats and wits a for a few sessions.

Should I not consider an american rye beer with about 10% rye malt?

I have had no trouble with rye causing cloudiness. My Bent Rod Rye is almost 20% rye and clearing nicely.

I second that. I've only made four beers with significant rye, one with a wee over 20%, and none of them have had haze issues. Then again, I made a wit that came out crystal clear as well, so grain of salt and all!

Quick question for those who posted back about their experience with rye and clarity, did you do a protein rest or was it clear without it? Thanks.
