Do you have to modify a brew kettle so it has a filter like a mash tun?

I will be doing all grain batches and I will be batch sparging. I won't be doing BIAB so will I need to modify my brew kettle so no bits of hops get into my primary?

Do you have a valve on your kettle ? Do a whirlpool and sludge will form up at the bottom . Shouldn't be an issue . Some people pour everything into the fv .

I'm going to be getting one with a valve. What is the easiest way to whirlpool?
Stir it with your Big Ass Spoon. You are getting a Big Ass Spoon, aren’t you?

Thanks! I already have a big ass spoon! When should I do the whirlpool? Before or after cooling the wort?

So do you put your IC in and then start whirlpooling and then give it a few mins to settle or what?
IC goes in 15 minutes before the boil ends to sanitize, then start the whirlpool at flameout. I continue to poolin until i've hit my pitching temps, then pump into the fermenter instead of back into the boil kettle.
