I'm planning to get a 2.5 gallon keg for making and serving soda. Can you lay the keg on it's side for carbonating and serving while in a fridge or cooler OR does it need to stand upright for some reason?

Thanks, Doug

Well you can carbonate like that, but serving you'll have trouble when it's less than half full since the out tube is in the middle of the bottom.

Meh, you probably could orient so that the co2 tube was at the top when on its side and you would be fine until the liquid level got low enough that the liquid tube started sucking gas. That being said there is risk at screwing up your regulator if you get beer backuped the gas tube if the keg rolls.

I wouldnt risk it.
