DME to Grain conversion

Having a brain fart at this moment. What is the formula to convert DME weight to grain weight ? Specifically 5 ibs DME is = to how many pounds pale malt ?

I believe that DME yields 45 points and grain can yield 36 points. But grain has an mash efficiency factor that you could assume is 75%. That brings grain down to 27. So 5 X 45 = 230. And 230 / 27 = 8.3. I am sure others will jump in and check my figures. Good luck, Mike

5 lbs DME = about 9 lbs pale malt at 70% efficiency

1 lb DME yields 45 or 46 points when made up to 1 gallon

1 lb pale malt yields about 36 points when made up to 1 gallon at 100% efficiency
So at 70% efficiency it yields 36 * 0.7 or 25 points

So the conversion = lbs DME * 45.5 / 25 or 9.1 lbs pale malt

1 lb grain = .75 lb LME = .6 lb DME

To go from DME to grain, multiply by 1.667
