I don't know about anyone else but I only use dme on lme do to the quality of the finished beer. The only problem I continue to have is it clumps really bad when I first add it to the boil and it takes a while to get it really mixed in. If anyone has suggestions I'm all ears.

I used to mix the dme with some cold water, then add that to the boil. Worked pretty well for the most part.

Thanks I usually brew some pretty big beers and I'm adding around 7-8 pounds of dme so it's a lot to mix in ill try rehydrating it first next time.

I try to add it while the water is heating to a boil. Clumps less and doesn't get all sticky when you are trying to pour it above the steam. I never really worried too much about clumps though. They dissolve soon enough when its boiling. So not really a big deal.
