Hey guys, I have a refridgerator I use for making lager. The problem is for fermentation I have to set the thermostat hooked up to the fridge too low which makes the freezer melt. Then when I move to the lagering stage I turn the thermostat down, which freezes the freezer part again...only to have it melt next time I turn the thermostat down. It's also wasting electricity...no point in keeping the freezer part cold when I'm not using it.

Is there a way to disconnect the freezer part and keep the fridge part working normally?

from what i understand the chiller plate or part that gets cold is in the freezer, and the temp of the fridge opens and closes a duct from the freezer to fridge to keep the fridge at the certain temp.

what others have done is remove the section between the freezer and the fridge to have one big compartment.

This. I don't know of any fridge that works any differently. I cut the insulation out between my fridge and freezer on my side by side.
