Less than half the price of the expensive OxyClean stuff so I bought some. Any body try the stuff out? Also they have a heavy duty version....I said duty...heh has anyone tried that version as well. Does it work as well as oxyclean or the sun oxygen cleaner? It was 3.20 for 36 ounces.

Read the ingredients and make sure there are no fragrance additives etc.

Sodium carbonate, sodium percarbonate, surfactants(a bionic and nonionic), sodium silicate.
By the way deemed safe for septic tanks... Doesn't have any smell.

Does it have Mike Rowe on the container ;)
Yes..which he did a show on how Beer Changed the World or something to that effect that was pretty awesome. So he has that going for him and total consciousness on his deathbed.

Works well. It seams to have a soapy characteristic like StarSan. But it works just as well as regular oxy free at half the cost. Cleaned up my mash tun fairly easily with it.

Dollar General carries a generic OxiClean that is fragrance free as well. For a 3.5 point tub it ran $4!

My Wal Mart has Sun Oxi cleaner. It's sodium carbonate (cas # 497-19-8) and sodium percarbonate (cas # 15630-89-4). Nothing else. Sun would not tell me the exact percentages of each, but the MSDS says that it is 40-70% sodium carbonate by weight. I'm going to try 70% Sun Oxi cleaner and 30% Red Devil TSP/90 which is 100% sodium metasilicate (cas # 6834-92-0) to make a PBW clone.

Do not bother making the mixture that I posted above. It sucks. It leaves a thick, chalky coating on everything even after rinsing. I'm trying to find a way to fix it...

Which is nice.

The Dali Lama! Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga.

Any who...I'm gonna have to look into gettin this off brand stuff! Oxy clean isn't expensive, but the less you spend on stuff like this, the more you can spend on ingredients right!

OK, but EVERYTHING I read said to use it at 30%. It's weird that I'm having this problem.

I been using the sun oxi since it came out and the price of oxiclean skyrocketed. Works the same to me also. I use it in everything from my brewing stuff to my homemade detergents.

I actually really think this has been the best cleaner I've used so far. It had some soap like qualities and it really cleans up my fermenters quick. For the price I'm all over it.
