I have a 5 gallon igloo cooler and recently purchased a bazooka tube for it. The tube is 12 inches long which is a little bit too long to fit in my coolet. I was thinking of removing the male pip fitting and then trimming about an inch or 2 from the screen then reattaching.

Im thinking this shouldnt really cause an issue as long as I resecure the screen to the fitting. Probably with a stainless hose clamp or something.

Anyone done this? Any special steps needed to make sure I dont ruin my bazooka tube?

I went the opposite way. I cut the end without the fitting with a cutting disc and then used needle nosed pliers to crimp the tube back. Worked great.
