I'm new to the hobby (just did my second all-grain brew last weekend). I'm curious what everyone's crowd pleaser recipes are? What should I make for bigger social gathering for people who may not drink a lot of beer.

Look in the recipe forum for Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde. And his Cream of Three Crops. Both are HBT favorites, pretty easy to make, and are well liked by typical BMC drinkers...

For an APA, look for Yooper's Haus Ale. Very nice all-cascade APA...

Eh, here... I'll do it for you:

Not to go all beer snob or anything, but I really don't have the time or inclination to brew for people who don't like beer, and most of my family and friends actually do like beer so I don't usually have to worry about it. But if we're hosting a big gathering and inviting people who don't like the kinds of beers that I brew I just buy a case of something like Yuengling.

The lightest beer I brew regularly is a Brut IPA. It's about ~6.5% ABV and 30-ish IBU. Light, crisp, refreshing. And low in carbs. SWMBO and her girl friends like to put a couple of ounces of lemonade in a glass to make a sort of shandy on hot summer days.

The homebrewer's eternal question: how do you brew beer to cater to people who don't like beer in the first place.

IMO brew a beer you enjoy that's a good fit for the event. Trying to please everybody with one beer is tough. A lighter beer will give you more broad appeal but be realistic about the crowd. Light lager drinkers may not like that it doesn't taste like exactly what they normally drink. Non-beer drinkers are probably going to remain that way. Don't set yourself up to feel disappointed by a crowd's response that probably isn't the right crowd to appreciate your brewing in the first place.

A British Brown ale recipe I made up is currently the top of the taps. (Trying to make a Newcastle Clone, called Nuked Castle) . Hops are 1 oz of UK Holding and 1oz fuggle at 30 min.

that seems like good advice. I have a party coming up maybe I should keg some sort of rum punch or something instead of an extra beer.

I'll have to give that one a go in a few weeks. What do you call it?
