I'm new to the hobby (just did my second all-grain brew last weekend). I'm curious what everyone's crowd pleaser recipes are? What should I make for bigger social gathering for people who may not drink a lot of beer.
So a turn of the century mild?Something pale around 20 ibus with about 4.5 abv.
A British Brown ale recipe I made up is currently the top of the taps. (Trying to make a Newcastle Clone, called Nuked Castle) . Hops are 1 oz of UK Holding and 1oz fuggle at 30 min.I'm new to the hobby (just did my second all-grain brew last weekend). I'm curious what everyone's crowd pleaser recipes are? Yes, or a lager. Same beer in light brown is also nice.So a turn of the century mild?
I have the centennial blonde fermenting right now.Look in the recipe forum for Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde. And his Cream of Three Crops. Both are HBT favorites, pretty easy to make, and are well liked by typical BMC drinkers...
For an APA, look for Yooper's Haus Ale. Very nice all-cascade APA...
Eh, here... I'll do it for you:

that seems like good advice. I have a party coming up maybe I should keg some sort of rum punch or something instead of an extra beer. The homebrewer's eternal question: how do you brew beer to cater to people who don't like beer in the first place.
IMO brew a beer you enjoy that's a good fit for the event. Trying to please everybody with one beer is tough. A lighter beer will give you more broad appeal but be realistic about the crowd. Light lager drinkers may not like that it doesn't taste like exactly what they normally drink. Non-beer drinkers are probably going to remain that way. Don't set yourself up to feel disappointed by a crowd's response that probably isn't the right crowd to appreciate your brewing in the first place.
got a gallon of that going right now. Tastes kinda gross but i'm going to wait till it ferments dry and backsweetenNothing can top skeeter pee dialed down to 5% in the summer
I'll have to give that one a go in a few weeks. What do you call it?A British Brown ale recipe I made up is currently the top of the taps. (Trying to make a Newcastle Clone, called Nuked Castle) . Hops are 1 oz of UK Holding and 1oz fuggle at 30 min.
