Is it possible to cork your beer in wine bottles rather than bottling it?

The concensus is that wine bottles will not hold up to the carbonation and may be dangerous. Emperically, I've never tried...anyone who has, feel free to chime in

I'm sure you could do it in champagne bottles since they're designed for carbonation. I've also capped Martinelli's sparkling cider bottles too with my butterfly capper.

The answer is yes. Whether or not the wine bottles will hold up depends on the volumes of CO2 you put in the beer. I have a big belgian (4 vols CO2) in champagne bottles with corks right now. P.S. use plastic instead of real cork to avoid the need for special machinery and potential loss due to lack of seal or infection.
