Hi,

Finally building a mash tun. I picked up some copper fittings yesterday and upon closer inspection they seem to be coated on the inside of the joints. I'm guessing it is a soldering compound but I thought I should check to see if I should be concerned about using them in my setup.

Here's a couple of pics:

Were these on the clearance rack? If not, it looks like someone tried to use them and returned them. You can get fittings that have the solder already in the socket for newbies, but that doesn't look like it to me.

My suggestion is to return it and get a clean one.

The second and third pic were of a tee I cut. I was trying to give a clearer picture of what I was seeing. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm guessing it's just solder then. Thought I better check before getting I started building.

Thanks

Ready-to-sweat copper fittings are available and look like what you have pictured.

They should work fine for any sweated copper plumbing on your MT.
