Im doing my first conical double batch in a 15 gal plastic fermenter with a yeast collector on the bottom. I decided to keep the valve closed. I'm 5 days into it and decided to open the valve to dump the trub. So far, nothing coming out but I think it will let loose soon.

Wondering what the opinions are about leaving the valve open the whole time. Seems like the trub would just settle in the bottom. Then just close the valve when you feel like it, dump and sanitize, reconnect and open again.

Thanks

9 days since opening the valve and still stuck. I decided it wasn't worth trying to free the clog. I tried a mallet and a rivet gun, no luck. Oh well, I'm sure it will be fine. Just bummed I couldn't take advantage of the "ease" of going to secondary.
