If I add cold coffee extract to a beer will the caffiene in the beer affect the yeast like it affects us? I am making a coffee porter with European Ale White labs yeast in a starter, with Starbucks Sumatran coffee that I am currently cold steeping.

I just did the same thing to a Porter. I bottled it today. It tasted pretty good! Nice robust taste with a lingering hint of coffee on the back end.

Add the coffee when you bottle. Thats the best way to preserve the coffee flavor and not affect the yeast. I know caffine is a poison to most small critters. Thats why plants produce it. I'm not specifically sure if its a poison to yeast though.
