Tasting Notes
Fantastic. Mild coconut.
This IS NOT my recipe. I got it here, but can't find it any more. maybe it's here, and maybe not. Cudos and props to the original mystery poster. I only printed enough of it to get me going. I will give you everything off the page I printed. Then I will add some of my notes.

Dry English Ale White Labs 0007 (big starter)

Mashed at 148*F

Notes
-Total 2 lbs of coconut. 1 lb in the boil and then .5 lb into each fermenter/keg.
-2 lbs of sugar into the boil; 1.5 lbs sugar dissolved and tossed into each fermenter when fermentation shows signs of slowing.
-Could have used cal ale yeast and would have been great too I'm sure, I just had that on hand.
-Definitely the untoasted coconut is my favorite of the batches I've done. the toasted coconut added too much of a burnt/roasted flavor even if you don't over toast it.
-The 60 min hop additions did not have to be all that, I just had some hops I wanted to get rid of and they were all clean bittering, high AA.
-I really like the addition of Centennial and Mosaic in the recipe as well, it adds more depth of flavor!
-Only issue I had was FG stopped at 1.014 instead of what I would have rather had of around 1.010to dry it out a bit more but not a big deal.

If you brew it and you keg the beer, I would do the the coconut in the boil, then dry hop it and then see if you need more coconut or not. Just be careful with coconutting, it imparts flavor fast! You definitely get a HUGE amount of aroma and flavor though when you dry hop it, so I would suggest doing it some. The best rounded flavor I was able to get was after doing what I have listed above. If you do too much of the coconut it comes across too sweet, and if you hop it too much it will overpower the coconut.

/\ And that my friends is what I have from the OP.
Some of my notes...
Lots of hops, consider using a bucket and hop bags.
Absolutely do 10 gallons if you can. You will wish you would have.
I used S-05 yeast.

Again apologies to the OP for hacking your wonderful recipe. At least 2 people have asked for it, so being the poor typer and computer dip stick that I am, I posted it again.
Cheers, and brew on Baby!

Thanks AkTom, very much appreciated! I'm going to give this one a try. Thank you for taking the time to type that in, again, much appreciated.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I got some really great complements on this. One from a wine drinker, who doesn't drink much beer.
Cheers

Brewed on 6/25/16. Just drank my last bottle on 11/11/16. Coconut is still there. I'm going to brew it again tomorrow. My pipeline is dry. All
I have is some oversweet cider that I don't like...

Hey Tom, thanks for the update! When you originally posted this I put it in the queue to brew, I've been making my way through the list and this one is coming up soon and I'm really looking forward to it! :)

Let us know us know how it goes. Last weekend was too busy to brew. I'm hoping Saturday after a couple of things to get to my coconut IPA. As well as a graff and maybe an extract beer that a friend gave me.
Cheers

Oh man. This sounds great. I have been trying to come up with a coconut IPA recipe for the hot Texas summer and nonexistent autumn. This gives me some great ideas! Thanks for posting!

For the coconut are you just buying it from the store and chopping it up yourself? Definitely interested in this recipe especially for summer!

I get shredded unsweetened coconut from the store.
This is still one of my top 2 beers. It's tied with an Apricot Ale. Man I need to brew them both.

Do you have any idea how you would convert this into an extract recipe? It sounds amazing, I am just not advanced enough to make an all grain. Thank you!

I'm not sure. Pick an IPA recipe with similar hop schedule and add the coconut. Hopefully someone more experienced will jump in.

Docgallie
I converted a 5 gal extract version for you:
9lb pale LME
.75lb carapils
.25lb crystal 40
2.5lb corn sugar
1lb coconut (half for boil, half for "dry hop)
From here just follow his recipe, and cut all the hop additions in half! It should be no big deal. I plugged this into brewersfriend recipe calculator and came up with these numbers:

Original Gravity:
1.085
Final Gravity:
1.010
ABV:
9.90%
IBU:
51.95
SRM:
5.32
The only thing I am unsure of is how well that yeast holds up at that high of an abv, AkTom could fill you in a little more seeing as I have never used that strain. I did have a thought if you wanted to be adventurous, try Omega's tropical IPA yeast, it imparts massive pineapple/tropical tones it could get you something close to a Pina Colada IPA haha
Just a thought, I was considering giving it a whirl.:rockin:

Hey AkTom,
Any chance you would be willing to share that apricot ale recipe? :mug:

Also, I forgot to mention that those numbers were with the Omega yeast calculated into the recipe.. So if you use another yeast they will be a bit lower! That yeast is beastly..
As for the extra grains just steep the carapils and crystal in 150-160F water for 15-30 min, pull the grains out and drain/sparge with similar degree water then begin your boiling process:tank:

hopefully this works...

@ryan13166 ^this is the apricot ale. I use a #10 can of apricots in secondary. I use an immersion blender on them, dump juice and all in . it probably raises the abv a bit... it's great. my third and new top 3 favorite is a chocolate porter. it a boulder shake clone. Mellow, not too sweet or chocolatey. very drinkable. ;-)

@AkTom
Thanks man that looks awesome and super balanced for SWMBO! I'll have to give this one a shot in a few weeks for sure!
:mug:

I guess I never added the sugar to the boil... I did this time. Wow!!! OG 1.074, FG 1.010. 8.4%. I better be careful.
Cheers
