I am getting ready to bottle my 1st batch but want to plan ahead for cleaning. Can I use a nylon bristle bottle brush or will they scratch the inside and harbor bacteria. Also can I use pbw to clean them and also use pbw on the fermenter? Also what is a good way to clean the inside of the bottling spigot?

I use OxiClean to clean PET and PTFE, which is very similar to PBW. For open surfaces, use a soft sponge. Otherwise, just use the hottest water you can get from the tap and vigorous shaking to do the heavy lifting.

Nylon brushes do tend to scratch plastics, so I don't recommend you use them.

Be sure to sanitize with StarSan, Iodophor, or similar before refilling.
