I am planning on using some Guinness bottles I've been savings to bottle up my 2nd batch.. What's the best way to clean them? I was told to use a bottle brush and then throw em in the dishwasher on high heat with no soap... Thoughts? Suggestions?

I soak em in one step to clean them, it also makes label removal easy. People here will argue this to the death, but I've brewed wine, cider, and now beer and one step works fine for me.

IMO....the key is to make sure you get the organic deposits out of them....then sanitize...make sure you don't leave any "organic" clumps in the bottles.....great way to help the nasties grow....

Normally I soak them in organic dish soap with no smell, rinse them out, then soak them in sanitizer for a few hours.
