I am using a Brutus 10 for brewing. During the boil I have been keeping a slow circulation using one of the March pumps. Not aggressive enough to be inducing air into the wort but enough to keep it mixed. Am I hurting anything by doing this? Or should I leave the pumps off completely until I need them to move the wort through the Therminator to cool?

Thanks...

Not hurting anything, but what is the point in recirculating the boil??

When a fluid is boiling, it is basically mixing itself.

I started it when I used a hop bag and had the output flow against the hop bag. Sorta though it would increase the exposure of the wort to the hops by having a flow pass by the bag. Brewed a pale ale this morning with dried hops rather than pellets and didn't use the hop bag. Didn't seem that the recirc meant anything in that circumstance and thought I'd confirm it by posting the question.

Thanks....
