Hi all. My 8 month old Chugger pump motor turns, but pump does not pump. I took it apart, examined, and no sign of impeller sticking or jammed. Reassembled and then motor would not turn, but got hot in 5 or so minutes. Disassembled again, noticed signs the pump back cover was sticking on the donut magnet. When it was pumping it was screeching, indicating it was scraping on the magnet.
Now motor turns but no pumping. Anyone know if I can make some adjustment of the magnet on the shaft in order to fix this problem?
I saw what looks like a set screw that I guess holds the magnet in position on the motor shaft.
Someone at work (engineer) said he thought the clearance of the magnet around the pump might be critical, and if misaligned could prevent the pump turning. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Ron8
