I've searched around and have also received the water report from the city of Chicago, but I still have not been able to find out the Alkalinity of Lake Michigan water in/around Chicago.
Can anyone help me out?
:(

Have you tried calling your water dept.? They aren't required to provide that info, but most will if you ask. Chicagos water has gotten a bad rep in the past. I've heard some places have as high as 12+pH. Most in chicago have around 7.5pH I believe, which is pretty good.

I have not...I'll give that a try. I might send in a lab thing – I saw a thread on that somewhere which seemed to demystify that process.
