Chest freezer conversion question

Can a small chest freezer be stood up upon one end so it functions effectively like a stand-up freezer? Would this work for glass carboy based fermentation and lagering?

I believe the gating issue is the orientation of the compressor relative to the oil sump therein.
The sump - to be a sump - has to be at the bottom.

If the compressor orientation could be changed to suit the "portrait" cabinet orientation I believe the system would work correctly...
