i bought a pound of challenger a while back and have been using it off an on...think it might work out in a pale ale? i was going to finish with amarillo. here is the recipe.

9 # 2 row
4 oz victory
8 oz carapils
8 oz crystal 20
4 oz crystal 40

1 oz challenger @60
.5 oz amarillo @5
.5 oz amarillo at flameout

maybe a dry hop, not sure.

I think it would appropriate as a bittering hop in an APA, but I'd leave it out for any flavor and aroma additions. There's an underlying earthiness that doesn't jive with most American palates that prefer big juicy citrus notes from their pale ales.

I'd fill out your hop schedule with a flavor addition of a C hop, or perhaps some Amarillo.

Or, go to AHB and get some NZ Riwaka for flavor/aroma. I hear they are quite tasty, I am planning on getting some too.
