Central NC Brewer Here...

I live in the Raleigh, NC area and have been brewing for about 18 years. I'm an all-grain brewer, but not terribly sophisticated equipment-wise. I wish I could afford to buy better equipment, but I can't. I make pretty good beer that I'm proud of though.

This area has a lot of good breweries and bottle shops. We have the World Beer Festival here twice a year - once in Durham and once in Raleigh. There's a pretty strong home brewing community too.

I'm a Greenboro native moved out west to SF Bay Area. NC has a great beer and brewing scene! Check out State of Beer in Raleigh. Cool little bottle shop.

It's not a matter of having sophisticated equipment or lots of bling, it's that you make good beer. That's what counts. Plenty of people make fine beer with simple gear.
