Carbing Cider With Malt Extract?

Quick question. A cider made with only simple sugars, can it be carbed with malt extract, or will the yeast refuse to eat the extract and fail to carb. I'm not sure if the switch the to harder to eat sugar would be a problem. Thanks.

BTW, I plan to let it carb for three months, so time should not be a problem.
 
as far as i know and i could be very wrong, if you do a starter with applejuice and then try and ferment maltose the yeast will have difficulkty. I have no idea if it works the other way around but it would make sense that you might have a problem... someone who has more knowledge on the subject should chime in...
