I had the flu for a week and am now mostly better, but I haven't wanted a beer since I got sick. My nose is mostly cleared out but I tried to force myself to try a blonde and an APA this evening and they just weren't any good. Flavorless, bitter, colored water. When does the sense of taste/smell come back? Even my appetite is shot. I haven't been really sick for 3 or 4 days.

Ummm, couple of days more. When I had the flu, the symptoms were like clock work on the phrases. The worst part is at the end. Congested lungs.

I feel you, man. Happens to me when I get a head cold too. Even a beer with tons of flavor doesn't come through and what you taste is not "good" either. Just keep up with the meds and lots of liquids to get your flushed out.

I have allergies all year long. On bad days I can't taste or smell anything. On good days I'll get some flavors and aromas if I breathe in through my nose while sipping. The worst part is that drinking makes the effects worse :-(.

Go and find an affordable whiskey. That will power through any snotty crap.

Tasters are slowly coming back online. Beer is drinkable, but not as amazing as it should be. Good call on the whiskey. I've got a 3L of Bulleit at home that needs work. Sounds like a plan.

I always drink whiskey when I get the flu, hubby used to give me a hard time about it until he tried it. We both got sick around the same time, I drank whiskey and honey and was better in days, finally when he was still sick, he tried the whiskey and honey. I said what are you doing? After all the grief you gave me over my whiskey cure! He said, well, it worked for you. He was feeling better by the next day also.
