Hello friends, I'm getting ready to purchase a 1.5" butterfly valve for my Blichmann conical bottom dump port and was wondering if the locking feature can be disabled on the pull type handles. I'm not sure how they work but was thinking maybe a spring could be removed or something so that the handle operation is smooth with no locking position(s). It's not a big deal but I don't have any locking positions on the ball valve that I'm currently using and don't really want that feature; it seems like the locking positions would just get in the way and possibly cause the valve to get stuck open when I'm trying to pull out yeast or trub. I often just use a quick open - close motion to dump trub and whatnot and don't want it locking open. Thanks for your help!

I would advise you go with squeeze trigger butterfly valves over pull trigger butter fly valves. They are more intuative if something were going wrong and generally have more opening positions. I have both and was looking at ways to modify. I think the easiest way would be to bungee or tape the squeeze trigger so it is always in the squeezed postion. A pull trigger looks like it would require more work but is doable.

If you do modify one you will have to be diligent to make sure it is closed. It would be easy to be slightly misaligned without the locking mechanism.

This is the squeeze trigger type I prefer.
