I recently had a berry porter get infected, most likely from the berries in secondary. I left it in the fermenter to experiment, and I have opened it a few times to taste. However, now another brew that I just racked has become infected as well. Is it possible that the original infection infected the other beer as well? Is my whole brewing room compromised?

If you have two infections going you might have a problem up stream of your fermenters. Did you use the same racking cane, transfer lines, pumps, counterflow/plate/other chiller, kettle, or mash tun for both these brews? Everything is suspect to include brushes, towels, rags, etc. I'd go buy some bleach, take apart everything, and clean top to bottom.
