Now that the mechanics of our bulk grain buys seem to be running smoothly, it was time to move on to bigger and better things. Yesterday, our order of 9lbs of whole leaf hops arrived from HopsDirect.

TwoHeadsBrewing and myself split pounds of EKG, Amarillo, Perle, Tett, Northern Brewer, and Willamette. Another local brewer took full pounds of Amarillo, tett, and EKG. Overall, our average cost per oz was $1.25 shipped. This is awesome considering some of the varieties we got (like the tetts) are only available at the local shop for $3 per oz as pellets. Also, the $1.25 figure doesn't include bag overpacking. Each 1lb bag from hops direct was at least ~2oz over.

On to the Pics!

Fridge at work. This is only 6lbs, we couldn't fit all 9 in the freezer (and they were going to be picked up in a few minutes anyway):

edit: Sweet, we can post more than 4 pix now?

Woohoo! Gotta love the smell of fresh hops...and the look of them all stashed nicely in the freezer. This buy should set me up nicely for at least the rest of the year (famous last words). Thanks for posting, and for the use of your food-saver...those vacuum sealed bags are killer!
