I am building an all grain system. I am modeling off of the brewmagic craft brewer rims system. I have most of major items purchased or made. I am getting the chugger pump with the ¾” inlet. My valves and pick up tubes are ¾”.
How far off the bottom should the pickup tube be 1/8”, ¼” or…
Anyone see an issue using a 3/4" pickup for boil and mash tun?
What tubing is good for pumping?
Does anyone pump 212 degree water through their system or just mash temps?
Should I go with the 5/8” ID tubing or much cheaper ½”
Any tips on mitigating warping when welding on ferrules?
Cheers

It wont' matter how far off the bottom your pickup tube sits, as long as you don't feed crap into it (screens, false bottom). The only difference will be the dead-space in your MT/BK.

No issue with 3/4" tubes...though 1/2 is far more common.

Any tubing is good for pumping.

Yes, you can pump boiling water/wort with a chugger/march pump.

Go with whatever size you want, but 1/2" does it fine. Usually you'll be throttling the flow rate down via valves anyway, so I don't see any reason to go bigger.

Far as welding goes, you're the expert after you have some examples of work well done!

Cheers! :D
