Hello to all. My name is Dave. I am a grounds manager in East Aurora NY, and live in Lake View, NY 20 minutes south of the city. I have just begun homebrewing in June of 2006. I have made now 6 batches of extract. I have a LOT of new friends and drinking buddies now.
The buffalo area has a bad rap as a down area. If you are IN the city this may be so, but the suburbs are doing well, I think.
We have so many summer festivals, you could be busy every weekend. Let me list them.

The Greek Festival
The Italian Festival
The German Festival(there are many octoberfests as well)
The Irish Festival
The Scottish Highland Games
The Polish Festival
The Erie CANAL festival
The Allentown Art Festival
The Taste of Buffalo (second largest food fest)
The East Aurora (home of Fisher Price) Toy Festival and parade
The Great American Erie County Fair
The Octoberfest in Ellicotville (30 minutes south) home of the Ellicotville Brewery
Wing Stock
and of course the Buffalo Brewfest coming up this September 16th

Buffalo area has some of the best food around. Chain restaurants don't do as well as local ones here!

we also have Niagara Falls, The Bills, The Sabres, several microbreweries, and we are just a step from canada.

On top of that I drive 40 minutes to work, and I can't remember the last time I had a traffic jam(wow).

Nice to meet you.

Hey, welcome aboard. Wouldn't happen to be the grounds manager for a professional football team, would you ('cause that would rock). My wife's family is from Buffalo, so we spend a good deal of time out there. What I love about Buffalo is that at least the default beer is Molson, IMHO a great improvement over the rest of the country's Bud. I'll have to time our visits around some of these beer fests (wouldn't be anything coming up for the second weekend in August, would there?)

Anyway, welcome aboard.
