I just finished building my brewstand based on the Brutus 10 and now looking to buy burners to start on the next phase of the build. If I am going by the Brutus plans, the burners that are most similar are from morebeer here. I also see a cheaper version here but not really sure of the quality. Based on the general calculations I see, the 92,000 BTU jet burner will handle a 5-10 gallon batch of beer. This particular burner also utilizes a low pressure regulator.

I keep reading different opinions about what burner will suffice for different size batches and I can't seem to find anything consistent. At the end of the day, I need three burners(pref jet burners) all the same size, shape, btu, etc. Will the burner from morebeer work for what I am trying to accomplish or am I going to struggle with boil time and time to heat to temp?

dude... 92,000 BTU is plenty for a 10gal boil kettle. I've been brewing with 30,000 BTU burners on my 10gal kettle for a while and they work great if you start warming it up while draining the mash tun. It's pretty easy to get the whole volume boiling after the drain is finished in say 10-15 min if you've been adding heat along the way. ( ;

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I mean I would think so too but the more I google and search forums, I see guys talking about how you need a 220,000 BTU burner to properly heat 10 gallon batches in a normal amount of time, etc, etc, etc.

I just upgrade to a 15 gallon pot and did my first 10 gallon batch two weeks ago. I upgraded my burner to the kab4 banjo burner and its been great for what I need it for. I went a little over board because I do plan on brewing outside in the garage during winter, which can get a little frosty up here. I cant recommend it enough.

I routinely do 10 gallon BIAB batches in a 20 gal kettle on a 72,000 BTU Blichmann burner. It goes from mashout to boil in about 10 minutes. I can maintain a vigorous boil with the throttle barely 1/3 open.

You don't need 220k BTU to do 10 gal batches.
