I coped some yeast from my local brewery today:rockin: , Their Brewmaster is cool as hell and they brew great beers, if any of you are ever in louisville check it out at Louisville Slugger Field, its the best beer in the town (and thats saying alot with 5 brew pubs in town). but besides that its in half pint mason jars probably 3/4 full of slurry, and not what you see in white labs viles, this is probably 3 times as much. would pitching all of that to 5 gal be over pitching? should i only use half of the jar to keep from yeast bite? I intend to make a starter but i only give it about 8 hours so it skips that horrid lag at first.

From my reading, 1 cup of slurry is adequite. Use your yeast bed several times before dumping it and using another cup from the mason jar.
