I checked my temp on my Magic Hat clone and the temp was about 73-74F. The suggested fermentation temp is 72F, is that going to cause any significant off flavors?

I wouldn't think that it will have a major effect but just a bit paranoid.

what yeast?

I tend to like to keep most english ale yeasts on the cool side, but it's a matter of taste as far as how estery you like your beers

Remember that the internal fermentation temp of your beer is going to be 3-6 degrees higher than the ambient temperature of your fermentation room.

If you can get a thermometer probe into your wort, that will give you a better idea.
