Greetings from the Hills!
The forum is very informative. My first beer, and IPA, is in the secondary right now. If I hadn't found the forum, I might have followed the instructions from the kit and bottled in a week! Well maybe not - I've read Papazian's book a few times for good guidance.
A few kind friends have been sharing their beers and meads for a while now.
I'm really looking forward to having some of my own to share with them.
Cheers!

I live in Parkersburg, it's on the Ohio River.
That's about an hour and twenty from Oak Hill, and over two hours from Beckley. Oak Hill is almost in the New River Gorge area- beautiful! There's a coal mine and coal town you can visit in Beckley for a tour led by an old retired miner. Revvy, have you ever visited the state?
If you enjoy outdoor activities, West Virginia is a great place.

Sadly I was evidently an infant when my parents took my brother, sister, and myself there...I have zero recollection of it. Someday I'd like to vist that area, especially to see where my dad was born and worked.

My grandfather was injured in the mine, and evidently my dad as a young teenager (like 16 or 17, in the late 30's or early 40's) took over his position and worked it til he quit to go fight in WWII...
