Hey All, I completed my first brew last night in my BrewZilla (which was a blast and I learned a lot). In BrewFather I notice two different suggestions for water levels and I don't really understand how to interpret it correctly.

My recipe shows a Pre-Boil Volume of 14.46L
And in the water section, it shows Total Water of 16.06L

My thoughts were my total water is my Pre-Boil volume of 14.46L brought up to strike temp, then run off my sparge water from that. But then I would be under the suggested mash water volume.

It's left me a little confused. Perhaps someone here may be able to offer direction?

Total water is the total amount of water you will need on brew day. Assuming you don't top off, its your strike water plus your sparge water.

Some of that is absorbed by the grains. What's left is your pre-boil volume.
