Hi Guys,
I just Started my brewday with my new March 809HS pump. One quick question when pumping from Brewkettle to plate chiller.
Does the order go:
BK->Pump->Plate Chiller-> Fermentor? Would this cause Hot side aeration?

Or should I go
BK->Plate Chiller-> Pump->Fermentor.

Thanks in advance everyone!!! I really appreciate it!!!

Brian

push into the plate chiller, throttle back the pump out let to limit cavitation and you should be good.. by limiting the pump outlet with a ball valve you'll not have any hot side aeration..
run your cold water at full bast threw the chiller

That's the right way to do it. Always push through the chiller and minimize any restriction or resistance on the suction side of the pump. There's no need to be concerned about HSA running the pump wide open. Even if the pump does happen to cavitate for some reason, which it should not, the bubbles won't be air or oxygen, they are only water vapor and won't do any harm. I run my pump wide open throttle when cooling the wort, but I'm circulating through a CFC and back to the kettle and this works best with a high flow rate IMO.
