Just wanted to start by saying it's great to find a local forum for my new hobby! Today will be my first day of home brewing, and I couldn't be more excited. I ordered a brew kit online frome Williams Brewing out of California and it looks very simple but I shall get the job done. My budget only allowed me to get a 16qt brew pot, and as I am told I should be able to get a good boil using 3 gallons of water. I am using extract so here is to hoping. My name is Nick from Summit County, Co and cheers to some Mile High home brew!

Awesome!

It is very nice having such a great forum! I wish I would have found it prior to getting started as I failed with my first two.

Be sure to ask questions if you aren't sure about something.

Out of curiosity what beer did you buy?

Good luck!

Welcome to the obsession! The directions with those kits are usually pretty good. best advice I can give is be mindful of your sanitation, especially anything that touches the wort post boil and watch your fermentation temps carefully and you'll make great beer! Good luck and remember... there are no dumb questions!

Thank you everyone! Rodwha I am brewing Williams Summer Ale now. I am in my 3rd day of primary fermentation. I am a bit concerned about having a greenish color where the white foam was in the first day of fermentation but I am hoping it is the settlement rising with the co2. Should this be a concern or is just what I suspected?

What style is the summer ale?

I've only fermented in buckets so I have not seen much of the krausen. I'd think green would be hop matter though. Did you use hop bags?
